Why See Jacob Banks?
Jacob Banks Brings His Debut Album To US Shores
Fusing together African inspired grooves with 808 drum loops, rich sonic textures and synths, Nigerian-born English singer songwriter Jacob Banks' debut 2013 EP The Monologue boldly announced an exciting fledgeling artist to the world and garnered support from the likes of Emile Sande, Sam Smith and Alicia Keys. He followed up the breakthrough success of his subsequent EPs with the November 2018 release of his debut album Village, a critically lauded offering that he brings to US shores on his first ever headline jaunt in North America in the winter of 2019.
Able to make a listener feel every word he sings, Jacob Banks possesses a powerhouse voice that glides from gentle to smoky and powerful in a single phrase. The up and comer explores love, loss, self-doubt and self-discovery in his lyrics, grounding his musics with heartfelt ballads, uplifting R&B anthems and spells of electronic experimentation. Built around his deep, sonorous timbre, Banks' live sets soar with passion, emotion and a sense that bigger things are waiting in the wings for this talented muso.
Performance date: 9 February 2019
