The Meters

True icons of funk music
Why see The Meters?
Funk Originators
One of the most important bands of all time, The Meters, are back out on the road! The funk legends are a group who changed the game for future generations, considered alongside artists such as James Brown, Sly Stone, and George Clinton as one of the original pioneering acts of funk music. The Grammy Hall of Famers won the academy's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018 and still today show no sign of slowing down. Cissy strut your way down to the show for one of the funkiest evenings of your life, from the godfathers of the genre!
Formed in 1965, by Art Neville, Zigaboo Modeliste, George Porter Jr. and Leo Nocentelli, The Meters' irresistible grooves helped to birth the genre of funk, which artists such as James Brown, Parliament-Funkadelic, Sly and the Family Stone and others took to the masses. Despite not reaching that same level of mainstream success, The Meters are seen as the band that paved the way for those icons, as well as inspiring artists from across the musical landscape. Across their career they have toured with The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney, been sampled by everyone from Run DMC to the Beastie Boys to Cypress Hill, and been covered by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Grateful Dead and Primus.
