WONDERFUL

The entire cast did a tremendous job recreating childhood memories of the movie into living color. Each cast member did a phenomenal job perfecting the cadence, accent and mannerisms of the original cast members. Highly entertaining. You will have chills from the lion’s performance, but all cast members gave remarkable performances.

LOVED DOROTHY!

This production was entertaining, fun, and didn't put me to sleep like most other performances i see! I absolutely loved Dorothy and thought the actress did a phenomenal job. All of the actors, especially the four main characters, were incredible, but Dorothy blew the performance out of the water. Her singing, acting, voice, and dancing were all incredible. Whenever I see plays, the acting usually doesn't impress me; but Dorothy truly was the perfect fit.

WIZARD OF OZ

i thought this production was wonderful. The cast was energetic, talented and fun to watch. I felt at home with the characters. Dorothy was great as was her little dog too. I especially enjoyed the effects used to show the tornado. I loved the Wicked Witch of the West....she was a hoot! From the costumes to the choreography, it was a great evening of entertainment. i highly recommend for children and adults alike.

PRETTY GOOD

It was very good, but the tree's were more revealing than expected and the witch was hard to understand

WIZARD OF OZ

Not sure what I was expecting; but I walked away wondering why some of the subtle changes in certain scenes while others where performed verbatim from the original. For someone who grew up watching the original movie I found it a bit disconcerting. I really didn't appreciate the interjection of one liners and rather lame humor. It made it feel as though one felt that the original couldn't stand on its own on stage; which I feel it most surely could. There was certainly nothing I would call scary, from the sulty evening gown clad trees to the wicked witch herself. Perhaps this was intentional as I am sure the intent was to welcome families with children. The witch was almost a parody of a wicked witch to me; which again was quite possibly intentional. The flying scenes left me rather disappointed; there was really no flying , only dropping in with wires clearly visible; which made me wonder; why bother! But all in all, an enjoyable experience. Personally, lion stole the show for me!

FOR THE CHILDREN

I think children would enjoy the production. It was rather slow paced. And the extra number in the second act (Jitterbug) didn't really help. From the Balcony, the projection of the Wizard was only half visible. We could see the mount, but not the whole face. Although the show has now moved on ... I think the total cost was too much for the production and seats we had. The Actress doing Dorothy was excellent. I thought the Scarecrow part was also very good. Toto looked scared to death. I felt bad for the puppy.

DISAPPOINTED

I took my wife to the Chicago show last night, for Mothers Day.. The acting, singing and dancing by the actors was great. The set and props were horrible. They used a TV screen in the back. Yhe actual sets were minimal and not used appropriately. The first witch scene talking to her monkey, that was supposed to be at her castle, was performed in front of the prior OZ set. The first scene when they visited the wizard, there were so visions of OZ projected above the booth, as they were in the second visit. Definitely noticed it missing in the first one. Like I said, the actors were good, but the production seemed amateurish and sloppy. I paid way to much for a professional play and left very disappointed. I would not recommend it.

WIZARD OF OZ AT THE CHICAGO THEATER

Main floor 5th row center. Six in our group. We relied on our memory of lines from the movie because the sound system garbled much of what actors said. Dorothy actress overacted and spoke in an annoying childlike voice. It was a long night. We wanted to cheer them on and go up the arc with the actors but the performance was flat. There were lame one liners. And though the actors knew their lines they did not inhabit their characters. Glenda actress seemed not to get who her character is and should tone it down. Costumes looked worn and tired. Some of the dance scenes were energetic but the acting was so pitiful and the seats were uncomfortable.

I JUST WISH THE SET WAS BETTER....BAD CHOICES!!!!

Nothing like expecting somewhere over the rainbow and landing in front of a TV screen. The acting was OK but the set, props and costumes were sub-par. not what i expected AT ALL!!!! the wizard was scary and Glinda was like a sugared up screamer. it was just disappointing. PS, the munchkins are supposed to be small, not 5-6 foot plus and the trees should be TREES not dancing ladies. And honestly, where was the YELLOW BRICK ROAD, surely not in this show. this one seriously missed the mark.

WIZARD OF OZ

I'm a Chicago actor and director and I was so unbelievably disappointed in this show. I'm a big believer that unless you can tell a story in a way that hasn't been done before, then you shouldn't attempt to put it onstage. This was a joke of a show. The set was a screen and the costuming was like something from a state college theater program. I'm so glad I didn't pay for these tickets because the entire show was a missed opportunity. The set, the costumes, the actors, the special effects were all a joke. This was just an expensive community theater production of The Wizard of Oz. Whose Dad paid for this show? How the Chicago Theater let a show like this go up is unbelievable to me. I might pay ten dollars to see a show like this but not the 50 dollars I saw some tickets going for. i would not recommend spending money to see this show.

THE WIZARD OF OZ

I was extremely disappointed with this production. I have seen 50+ live shows but this is my first review! Dorothy's mike needs to be turned up. There were many faces in the shadows. Toto was cute but surprised at the lack of attention knowing how much trainers can do. Some of the singing numbers were off time with the music. Where were the special effects? That red dot was suppose to be a ball of fire? What fire was Dorothy even trying to put out? This made the whole melting seen less dramatic. I was SO disappointed with the costumes, the sets, the special effects. The Munchkins looked like clowns, the Wizard on the screen looked like a cat and what are Winkies? There was no "yellow brick road". Emerald City was just a cardboard cutout. Why couldn't they have shined a red spotlight on Dorothy's ruby slippers to make them glisten? The Wicked Witch kept wiggling her long nails, which didn't exist. Is it too hard to make a handlebar mustache on the doorman? I'm sorry but VERY amateurish!
